Welcome to the website of Iain Masson - British composer, conductor and music educator. Winner of the RNCM Alan Rawsthorne Composition Prize 2005. Iain's music has been broadcast on BBC Radio 3. Performances have taken place in cities including London, Manchester, Stockholm and Sydney.

Iain Masson

Iain Masson was the winner of the 2005 RNCM Alan Rawsthorne Composition Prize. Iain's compositions have been broadcast on BBC Radio 3's "In Tune" programme performed live by the Brodsky Quartet at BBC Broadcasting House in London, by the Goldberg Ensemble in Manchester as part of the 2005 SPNM New Music Tour selected by Steve Martland, by Cats' Adam Linstead, Ian Power and Telford and Wrekin Music pupils and staff. His 5-minute companion piece to 'A Soldier's Tale' commissioned by the RNCM New Ensemble and Mark Heron was premiered at the Bridgewater Hall.

He has worked as a creative workshop leader for City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra in Birmingham on the 'Midsummer Night's Dream' and 'Banded About' projects and was Assistant Trainee Composer for the Hallé Orchestra's "Eighth Door" education project assisting Bea Schirmer. He delivers workshops across the regions and works as a choir accompanist for The Treble Makers choir in Bilston.

Hall One at King's Place London, Brighton Corn Exchange, the Italian Culture Institute Stockholm, The Cosmo Rodewald Concert Hall - Martin Harris Centre Manchester, Oakengates Theatre Telford and Wrekin, Kungliga Operan (the Royal Swedish National Opera), The Regent Hall London and the Bridgewater Hall, Manchester.

He is currently writing new works.

Iain is a member of the Musicians' Union.
