Iain L. Masson is a musician, composer, conductor and creative music educator born in Dundee, Scotland. He grew up in the seaside town of Carnoustie. He is a composition graduate of Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and the Royal Northern College of Music, and a proud former winner of the RNCM Alan Rawsthorne Composition Prize.

He is currently a piano teacher for the Arthur Terry Learning Partnership, Shades Music School as well as running his own private tuition business privately in England.

Iain has delivered music projects and workshops for Hallé Orchestra Education as assistant trainee composer, Hallé Orchestra Family Concerts Series supporting Steve Pickett, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra Education primary years projects, Creative Partnerships, Musicate, Sound It Out, Diaspora Arts and many other arts organisations.

Iain's compositions have been performed live on BBC Radio 3's 'In Tune' show from BBC Broadcasting House. Other venues include Hall One King's Place London, the Jacqueline du Pré Music Building and the Kungliga Operan, Stockholm. Performers include the Brodsky Quartet, Cats' Adam Linstead, RNCM New Ensemble and the Goldberg Ensemble.
 

As a teenager, Iain was presented with the Dr. Kenneth Ruark Memorial Award for Citizenship.

 

In 2015 he was conferred with Honorary Membership of Royal Birmingham Conservatoire (HonRBC) for services to music in the ten years following graduation.

More recently, he was proudly presented with a Fellowship of the Guild of Musicians and Singers (FGMS) at the Regent Hall London in 2023.
