A special honour
Iain and Black Country Brass Band will have the special honour of leading the Remembrance Parade through Gornal in Dudley on Sunday 10th November. The parade, an annual fixture of the Band’s calendar, will commence at the Band’s rehearsal home, the Royal British Legion Club, Lower Gornal.
Iain says, “Playing an integral part of such an important event is so important for the Band. Remembrance honours those who served or made the ultimate sacrifice to defend our democratic freedoms and way of life. This is our chance to pay our respects as a Band. We feel so proud.”
Reading about that special honour took me straight back to the day my high school drama club received a standing ovation after our final performance. We’d spent months rehearsing, tweaking every line and lighting cue, and there was a moment backstage when the lights dimmed and the audience fell silent—then the applause erupted like a wave. It felt surreal, like all the hidden hours of effort had been recognized in that instant.
