Helper Iain led Black Country Brass through The Time Warp, Baggy Trousers and hit themes of Lady Gaga in a music-filled evening rehearsal on Thursday as a visitor at the Lower Gornal Royal British Legion in Dudley.
The band is a relaxed, non-competing brass band with a family atmosphere and thriving social scene. Performing at parks keeps the band running, but every year the band wants to make a difference by raising money for local charities including The Royal British Legion, Mary Stevens Hospice and Help for Heroes.
It was Iain's first visit to the band, and he was impressed by the passionate playing, skills, friendship and teamwork on display
across the band hall, with both sides enjoying a shared love of Disney themes!
Iain says, "It was such a special evening for me, everyone so friendly, from the first note it felt like all our troubles melted away working on music together. It was such an ideal place to rehearse too with great facilities. Enjoying making music with likeminded friendly people gives you a boost, raises your self esteem, puts a smile on your face and relaxes you. Music and banding is so powerful. I'm really grateful to Thomas for inviting me along to help out tonight! I feel so inspired."
All new players are always very welcome.
The Band Practices 20.00-21.30 every Thursday Evening at the Lower Gornal Royal British Legion Club, Ruiton Street, Dudley, DY3 2EH. Website: https://bcb.band
