Iain Masson will guest conduct West Mids Concertina Group at one of Britain's spookiest public houses this Saturday, based in the village of Amblecote.

Scotsman, Royal Birmingham Conservatoire graduate and Black Country Brass conductor Iain will conduct Mozart arranged for concertina band, alongside other selected pieces, at The Starving Rascal on Brettell Lane, Amblecote, Metropolitan Borough of Dudley from 2:00 - 5.00 PM. The Amblecote pub has established itself as one of the spookiest public spaces after CCTV footage showed a photo frame flying into shot. Iain hopes that there will be minimal spooky goings-on happening across the afternoon!

The Starving Rascal's was selected from over 4,600 dwellings chosen by pub company Ei Publican Partnerships as one of Britain's most haunted buildings.

Mysterious Britain website says:

"The Starving Rascal is named after an event in Victorian times which has had lasting repercussions. A beggar turned up at the pub during a particularly harsh winter to ask for some food and drink. He was cruelly turned away by the landlord. Before he died of exposure and malnutrition outside on the steps the beggar placed a curse on the pub.'

'It is this beggar who is said to still haunt the pub. Wet footprints can appear on the floor even when the weather is dry and staff and customers alike have both felt and seen a figure described as an old man in various parts of the pub." Iain is looking forward to his fourth visit to the West Midlands group who performed his concertina waltz 'Frivol' on Black Country Radio in 2020.

Participation is £3 (free entry for ghosts!) and you should email westmidsconc@gmail.com if coming.
