Black Country Brass, conducted by Iain Masson, have helped to celebrate 125 years of matches at The Hawthorns stadium, providing the musical entertainment before the historic West Bromwich Albion F.C. v Derby County F.C. special fixture.
The band shared their music with over 26,000 fans with performances outside the stadium, in the Fan Zone and on the pitch itself prior to kick-off, creating a guard of honour for WBA legend Tony 'Bomber' Brown who brought on the match ball and playing the footballers onto the pitch.
Repertoire included West Bromwich Albion favourites 'Nimrod' from 'Enigma Variations' by Edward Elgar, 'Baggy Trousers', 'Go West', 'See the Conquering Hero Comes', 'Gonna Fly Now', the 'Match of the Day' Theme and 'The Stars and Stripes Forever.'
Speaking to brass band media company 4barsrest.com, Iain said, 'It was truly historic day and an incredible experience for us all. Playing to an emotional football crowd, eager to join in with our music will take some beating."
Band Manager, Andrew Johnson who added: "What a day — absolutely fantastic. What made it even more special was the way the whole band put everything into it. What an experience.
The Band appeared on live socials, Club socials, fan pages, a brief appearance during ITVX's EFL coverage, BBC Sport radio coverage and live on the big screen during a VAR presentation about the history of the Club while they played.
The fixture ended with a disappointing 1-0 defeat for 'The Baggies' in a historic game which included a dead pigeon falling out of the sky onto the pitch, which meant the game had to be stopped!
