Iain Masson is a vastly experienced freelance professional musician with over 25 years of experience, with an energetic, patient and encouraging approach. Enhanced DBS-checked teacher with own public liability insurance. Iain holds a BMus(Hons) in Composition from Royal Birmingham Conservatoire (formerly Birmingham Conservatoire) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Composition from the RNCM.
He has ABRSM Grade 8 Piano.

British and Scottish music graduate Iain Masson is the former Resident Pianist of the Swallow Hotel Dundee, Wigmore's and Bar Epernay Champagne and Piano Bar. Iain has been teaching piano with passion since 1996, when he began teaching neighbours and family friends who wanted lessons, and he later developed his own teaching practice after moving to England to study music. His music students cover a range of styles lessons incorporate theory, aural, sight-reading, techniques and student-defined dimensions as well as creativity.
Iain's music education work has been classed as 'Outstanding' by Ofsted. His students are express enjoyment and consistently offer positive responses towards the lessons, with wonderful parent feedback. Exams are optional, but the majority of Iain's exam students have gained Distinction outcomes, closely followed by Merit results. Lessons are tailored to the intrinsic needs and interests of each individual student.
